Memorial Day Pie Ride

May is National Bike Month and to round out the month this Monday (May 30) why not celebrate with a Memorial Day Pie Ride to Gizdich Ranch in Watsonville.  There are two starting points to choose from: Meet at Monterey Wharf at 8am for the 72 mile version, or join in at Pezzini Farms at 9am for the 43 mile loop.Gizdich photo

Bring some money to chip in for their world-famous pie and ice cream at lunch. Since there is normally a “group pie purchase” you can help decide what kind of pies to order by ranking your favorites. Click the link to take the Gizdich Pie Survey. For those of you who hate pie – clearly there is something wrong with you – but you can still join us for the ride as Gizdich also has sandwiches.

Come join the fun for a Memorial Day Pie Ride, Monday, May 30th:
– 8am at Monterey Wharf on the bike path near the Custom House for the 72 mile ride (same start as Tuesday NRJ Ride)
– 9am Pezzini Farms for the 43 mile ride

All are welcome. Here’s the route maps…

Strawberry Fields Ride Meet-up

May is a busy cycling month and this coming weekend, we’ve got another local Century Ride popular with Velo Club members. Strawberry Fields Forever is Sunday, May 15, starting from Pajaro Valley High School in Watsonville.

100M riders can leave starting at 7 and 100K riders can take off at 7:30, so we’ll hold another short Velo Club member meet-up and photo session at 7:30 in the Parking Lot (just look for the Velo Club jerseys). Remember that for this ride you do need to check in before you hit the road, so get there early if you want to be ready to ride at 7:30.

If you haven’t registered and still want to ride, at last check there were still spots available. They do not do day-of-ride registrations. Learn more at the Strawberry Fields Forever site.
Here’s the link to Google map to Pajaro Valley High School.

Tierra Bella 2016

Saturday’s Tierra Bella ride in Gilroy played host to a big turnout of Velo Club members for both the 100K and 100 mile rides. Well over 20 VCM riders battled the hills and winds and celebrated their accomplishment afterwards.  Here’s a few pictures from the day…

If you’ve got some good photos of Tierra Bella, send them to and we’ll add them.
